Your Personal Threshold for Life's 'Craziness'—And Why It Matters

One of the most common things I hear from athletes is, “Sorry for X, Y, Z... life’s just been crazy.”

This got me thinking, are we all living in our personal crazy bubbles?

Does everyone think their life is too chaotic to pursue their goals?

We each have a personal threshold for what feels overwhelming, and that threshold shifts over time.

There’s a sweet spot where we feel challenged yet grounded, but sometimes life pushes us out of that balance.

However, it's important to recognize that true life stress from major challenges is very different from day-to-day responsibilities like cooking, training, chores, school, or work.

These things aren’t inherently crazy—they are a bi-product of being someone actively engaged in life.

Systems = Ease in Consistency

What systems (routines, habits etc.) do you have in place to consistently pursue your goals amidst life's happenings? If life feels too crazy to pursue your goals, something needs to shift—either your lifestyle or your goals.

For example, if you travel often but want to compete as a national-level weightlifter, you’ll need to adjust the way you travel. This might mean finding gyms to drop into, stopping at grocery stores instead of eating out the entire trip, and planning your schedule to prioritize training and recovery.

Or, if you constantly feel that you don’t have time for basic daily needs, it may be time to evaluate where your time is going. Are you spending hours on your phone or watching Netflix every night? Sacrificing some of these luxuries can create the time and space you need to focus on your goals.

Embracing Flexibility and Adaptability

Life will always have some element of chaos—because that’s what makes it life. Would you really want to do the same thing every single day, living in a bubble? Or would you rather stay adaptable, find ways to keep progressing, and stay committed even when things get "chaotic"?

Flexibility in how you pursue your goals matters just as much as the goals themselves.

Set up your goals and your days to reflect what you're pursuing. Expect curveballs and be prepared to work around them.

A busy, unpredictable life is just part of being fully engaged in living. The key is to set systems and routines that allow you to navigate the chaos while staying aligned with your goals.

Making Nutrition Second Nature

My hope is that your nutrition practice becomes so second nature that you can manage it confidently through all of life's craziness. Whether you're traveling, facing a packed work schedule, or managing family responsibilities, having a solid foundation in place will help you stay on track without feeling overwhelmed.

So, keep pushing, stay flexible, and continue chasing those goals.

Life's craziness isn't an obstacle—it's an opportunity to grow and adapt.

hi, I’m katie!

As a lifelong athlete myself, I know the difference nutrition makes in athletic performance. After transitioning from collegiate softball to competitive Crossfit, I dove into macro-based nutrition habits and now help other athletes do the same!

Having working with nationally and internationally recognized athletes, I now help competitive and lifestyle athletes learn to fuel for their unique needs.

I would love to connect with you and hear about your specific goals.
