Slow Cooked BBQ Chicken

Slow cooked BBQ chicken is a weeknight staple for busy, summer nights!

Cook for 2-3 hours on high, 4-5 hours on low.

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 chicken breast

  • Barbecue sauce of your choice; you’ll use about 1-1.5 cups depending your preferences.

Directions:

  • Layer chicken breast on the bottom of a slow cooker.

  • Top with barbecue sauce. You want enough that your chicken is mostly covered.

  • Cook for 2-3 hours on high, or 4-5 hours on low. *This will depend on your slow cooker and the overall thickness of the chicken.

  • Check to see if the chicken is tender, internal temperature should be at 165.

  • Using two forks, shred the chicken and enjoy!

You can use this bbq chicken several different ways. We’ve used it as a topper for homemade pizza, served it as a burger with cole slaw, or thrown it on a giant summer salad.

Nutrition Info:

If tracking macros, we recommend tracking this as cooked chicken breast with 1-2 tbsp/10-20g of bbq sauce. If adding more bbq sauce to your meal after it’s finished cooking, you can track that as well!
